ROADRUNNER VETERAN BLUELINER HEADED TO FERRIS STATE
TOPEKA, KS MAY 21, 2008: Three years in the RoadRunner organization gave Tommy Hill all he needed to prepare for Division I hockey, a dream he realized this week when he signed his commitment to play for the Ferris State Bulldogs in his home state of Michigan.
Hill played in 169 games for the RoadRunners, including 17 postseason contests, second only to fellow defenseman Aaron Gens on the all-time franchise list. He posted 11 points in his final season, and was a +10. The 6’5” 220-lb defenseman from Portage, MI has been a solid presence for the RoadRunners since he arrived. “It’s been a pleasure to watch Tommy grow both as a player and as a young man”, said head coach / GM Scott Langer. “He is a classy individual from a great family and he’s a perfect example of what RoadRunner hockey is all about. We pride ourselves on being a family type organization where a players character off the ice is as important as his ability on the ice. Tommy has been a great ambassador for our program in the community”. Winning the South Division and moving on to the Robertson Cup tournament capped a memorable season for Hill. “Playing in Topeka has been incredible”, Hill said. “I feel fortunate to have been able to play for a great organization with a great staff, with teammates that are like brothers, and in front of the best fans in the league.”
Hill will skate for the CCHA Ferris State Bulldogs in the fall. He will join former teammate Nate Hennig, who played two seasons with Hill in Santa Fe prior to the franchise relocation. Hill is the 4th player from the Topeka 2007-08 roster to commit to Division I school, preceded by Corey Jendras (University of Connecticut), Aaron Gens (Univ. Of Alaska – Fairbanks), and Eric Artman (Air Force).
