ROADRUNNERS NAME ASSISTANT COACH
The defending South Division Champion Topeka RoadRunners now announce their new assistant coach. His name is Trevor Converse, and if his name sounds familiar to Topeka hockey fans, it’s because 9 years ago he skated for CHL’s Wichita Thunder.
Converse will join Scott Langer on the bench as the RoadRunners launch their sophomore season. The pair work well together, in fact, Langer was Converse’ assistant during the only year the Lone Star Cavalry were in the NAHL, based in North Richland Hills, TX. When the Cavalry franchise was purchased and relocated to Santa Fe, NM where they became the RoadRunners, Langer assumed the helm as Converse took a different path, coaching the NAHL Central Texas Marshals prior to joining the El Paso Rhinos of the WSHL as Director of Player Personnel.
Trevor Converse played 7 seasons of pro hockey, a journeyman who saw action with 15 different teams in 9 different leagues. In those 7 seasons, he appeared in 335 games, scoring 63 goals and 51 assists and racking up 1099 penalty minutes. He also spent time in the Edmonton Oilers training camp in 1991 as a free agent.
“I’m looking forward to working with Scott again”, said Converse. “He and I are on the same page as far as our coaching styles and philosophies and I’m excited to be a part of this franchise with its strong winning tradition.” Converse has certainly had success in recent years, as the El Paso Rhino squad he helped assemble won the WSHL’s Thorne Cup last season.
Converse and his wife Andrea have two childen, Blake (5) and Emma (3).
