RUNNERS MOVE TO 3-0-0 WITH FRIDAY WIN
(BLAINE, MN) - In a penalty and fight filled game on Friday night, the Topeka RoadRunners once again emerged victorious, defeating the North Iowa Outlaws 4-0.
Topeka got on the board first when Colin Smith rifled a shot upstairs at 3:36 of the first. The 'Runners spent half the period shorthanded, but still outshot the Outlaws 15-5.
In the second period, more penalties and fights would follow, but Topeka notched the only two goals, the first a power play goal by Bob Marx at 4:37, followed by a Matt Hartmann blast at 7:52. In the third period, Alec Hagaman got a stick on a Jacob Poe powerplay shot, directing it past the Outlaw goalie for a 4-0 lead.
In turning away 22 shots, Lyle Rocker earned the elusive shutout, having lost one in the final minutes Wednesday and having the same problem numerous times in the 2007-08 season. He is now 2-0-0 on the year, and 15-0-1 in his RoadRunner career.
Topeka faces the USA Nat'l Development Program U-17's Saturday morning at 10:00 am, concluding this years Showcase schedule.
